Thanks to the Nelson Catchball Association for inviting our coach to their skills workshop run by Hadar Chechik. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the sport and, as a representative of the Canterbury Catchball Association, to help bring our communities together.
We have a date for our first tournament of the year!
Date: 28 March, 2:00–4:00pm
Location: Avon Hub Sports Centre, 77 North Parade, Richmond
Are you ready for some fun in a friendly, not-too-serious tournament?
At the end of each term, players from all our teams get together for exciting (but not overly competitive) games. We mix teams so everyone can level up their skills, have a laugh, and enjoy the day. It’s also a great chance to meet more of the wider Catchball community.
In these tournaments, we keep the same kind, supportive spirit as in our weekly sessions.
A big thank you to NZCT (New Zealand Community Trust) for approving our grant and supporting the launch of our new Catchball team in the Papanui area.
We’re pleased to share that the launch is already exceeding our expectations. Many women have come along to try the sport, representing a wide range of ages, fitness levels, skills, and backgrounds.
The Canterbury Catchball Association’s mission is to bring catchball to as many women as possible in Christchurch and to build a healthy, connected community.
Curious about Catchball? Come along and give it a try at our fun, beginner-friendly session at Graham Condon Recreation & Sport Centre on Tuesday 3 February 6pm to 7:30pm!
✅ No experience needed
✅ Friendly coaching and players to guide you
✅ A relaxed, social vibe
Come as you are! Bring a water bottle and comfortable sports clothes/shoes. Whether you're a seasoned player or trying for first time, bring a friend, a coworker, or a family member. The more, the merrier!
We’re thrilled to launch our new Papanui team, starting on Tuesday, 3rd February from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Graham Condon Recreation Centre.
This new team brings Catchball to the northwest of the city, and we can’t wait to see it grow.
If you know someone in the area who might enjoy the game, please invite them along. We’d also love to have support from players in our existing teams—especially in the early weeks. Your presence, experience, and positive energy will help new players feel welcome and inspired.
