Canterbury Catchball Association

Catchball is already a hit in 51 countries and is one of the fastest-growing women's sports in the world. It began in Israel, inspired by the U.S. game Newcomb, and landed in New Zealand seven years ago in Nelson. Today, around 60 players divided into several teams across different locations compete in a seasonal league.

Our Canterbury story began in 2023 when Antje Schmidt, a former Nelson player, brought the game home to Lyttelton. Eastside joined in 2024, and we're aiming to launch our third team next year.

The Canterbury Catchball Association Inc was officially registered on 5 May 2025.  It is a non-profit association dedicated to supporting our teams and promoting Catchball in the region. All the work is done by volunteers with great help and input from our players.
