Canterbury Catchball Association invites its members to come along to our free coaching workshop and learn how to help run Catchball training sessions.
We will go over the next term training plans and help build confidence for anyone who would like to step in when the coach is away or lend a hand during busy sessions.
If you enjoy Catchball and would like to support your team and help our community grow, we would love to see you there.
Our Association is volunteer-run, and every helping hand makes a difference.
We had a great end of term 1 tournament with 4 full teams playing. Our Lyttelton Port Queens and Eastside Divas were delighted to be joined by the new team of Pirates of Papanui and a mixed bag team of Allsorts.
We had a couple of social games, minus the rules and scoring were we all mixed and mingled. This was a really fun way to start things. After a break came the serious business. There were some very close games, lots of tense moments, amazing serves and rallies that saw many of our skills well and truly put to the test.
The winners of the day were the Allsorts, who had never played together before, but showed the true spirit of teamwork, agreeing to play away from their home teams and working brilliantly with each other.
Thanks to the Nelson Catchball Association for inviting our coach to their skills workshop run by Hadar Chechik. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the sport and, as a representative of the Canterbury Catchball Association, to help bring our communities together.
A big thank you to NZCT (New Zealand Community Trust) for approving our grant and supporting the launch of our new Catchball team in the Papanui area.
We’re pleased to share that the launch is already exceeding our expectations. Many women have come along to try the sport, representing a wide range of ages, fitness levels, skills, and backgrounds.
The Canterbury Catchball Association’s mission is to bring catchball to as many women as possible in Christchurch and to build a healthy, connected community.
We’re thrilled to launch our new Papanui team, starting on Tuesday, 3rd February from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Graham Condon Recreation Centre.
This new team brings Catchball to the northwest of the city, and we can’t wait to see it grow.
If you know someone in the area who might enjoy the game, please invite them along. We’d also love to have support from players in our existing teams—especially in the early weeks. Your presence, experience, and positive energy will help new players feel welcome and inspired.
Curious about Catchball? Come along and give it a try at our fun, beginner-friendly session at Graham Condon Recreation & Sport Centre on Tuesday 3 February 6pm to 7:30pm!
